Find the price after the headline.
Ask for a written breakdown before comparing services. Keep the cost of the medicine separate from the cost of getting care.
Plain-word notes On
What do the medicine figures mean?
For semaglutide sold as Ozempic or Wegovy, the maker’s September 2026 self-pay prices spanned $149–$499 a month, with the product and strength determining the price.
The lowest injection offers lasted for only the first two monthly supplies.
Those offers could be changed or cancelled by the maker; the introductory terms for injections continued through December 31, 2026.
These are dated medicine figures. They are not a quote for a whole care plan.
Self-pay Paying the cash price outside an insurance claim.
A “month” can mean a different pack or quantity for different products.
A question to take with you
What exact product and supply does this price cover?
Ask for the price after the introductory offer as well as the price at the start.
A concrete example of an offer
In September 2026, the government’s offer page listed semaglutide (Ozempic) injections at $199 per monthly supply for a new self-pay patient’s first two supplies.
The offer covered only selected strengths and was for US residents aged 18 or older paying without insurance.
An insured person using the offer could not ask their plan to repay this cost.
The spending also could not count toward the amount the patient must pay before insurance starts paying.
Once the first two monthly supplies were used, strength determined the posted monthly price: $349 or $499.

Use the offer terms to frame your questions. Ask the dispensing pharmacy to confirm the price that applies to the exact prescription.
Ask what sits outside the medicine price
In September 2026, some online services billed separately for medicine and charged an additional monthly fee for membership.
Ask the service you found what its fee covers and whether each of these items costs extra.
The first assessment and later visits.
Blood tests and any charge to review them.
A membership or other recurring fee.
Delivery and any supplies.
Cancellation, refunds and charges when no medicine is prescribed.
A question to take with you
Please show the full ongoing cost, including anything billed by someone else.
Compare like with like
List prices, cash prices and insured copays are different kinds of price.
Copay The part of a covered bill that you pay yourself.
A low medicine-only figure cannot answer what your full bill will be. Keep the product, the supply and the included services beside every quote.
Leave with this in writing
The full cost for the exact product, the cost after any offer ends, and the terms for recurring charges.
A useful comparison
Put the same items beside each other: medicine, visits, tests, delivery and any ongoing fee. Leave a blank where the quote does not answer.
